This album cover by Two Door Cinema Club is very inspiring and relevant to our band as I wish to have our cat 'Pablo' on the cover so that it links to the band. The image of the cat on this CD is quite unusual and different but still in a realistic setting. It is a photograph of the cat wearing a tiara but editing has been carefully used to make it's eyes more distinctive. The tiles as the background makes the photo very realistic as any cat would lay in a similar way. The toned down saturation of the colours in the image create a darker contrast which is a common convention used for indie CD covers. This is so that it doesn't distract you from looking at anything else on the cover. The location of the image and text is also centralised which has been seen throughout the previous indie covers as well. The image is very disjunctive as there is no clear link between the image and the album or band. The image acts as the background although the cat is positioned in the middle behind the text. This works well as the text is also centralised so that the cat's eyes can be seen through the text. This keeps the layout very simple and makes you focus more on the cat itself. The colour scheme is very neutral and naturalistic. The brighter colours used for the eyes capture your attention. The camera used for this particular cover was a high level mid shot. It is quite close up and could be seen to be a wide shot even though it is centralised. Editing has been used carefully for specific elements to enhance particular aspects to the audience. For example the magnifying of the eyes, colour alterations and the text. The font style is quite bold and large so is an immediate feature to focus on. The white colour works well on top of the dark image as it emphasises the outline of the cat. I also like the consistency of the O's and round circular shapes in the text because it is something to focus on. Overall I think the design works well. It is quite unusual but still captures your attention. I like the blue tinted images so that it makes it look more vintage. The bold white font is also effective and compliments the darker background, I may decide to use some of these conventions on my digipak.
